COOPERATION WITH THE EUROPEAN FOOD SAFETY AUTHORITY (EFSA)
National Food and Veterinary Risk Assessment Institute, as a risk assessment body in Lithuania, carrying out an assessment of risk factors and providing scientific and technical assistance for risk management in food safety and veterinary fields, is working closely with the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA). EFSA – an independent organization that provides scientific advice on all direct or indirect impact on food safety issues, as well as animal health and welfare and plant protection. EFSA collects and analyzes scientific data, determines and controls the risk factors, provide scientific assistance to the European Commission, the European Parliament, the Member States.
Experts of the Institute participate in the EFSA expert working groups, exchange scientific information, provide research data, participate in EFSA’s working programs and joint international projects.

COOPERATION WITH OTHER INSTITUTIONS AND ORGANIZATIONS
The Institute cooperates with competent authorities for risk assessment of other Member States, the EU Central and National Reference laboratories for food and animal health issues, research institutions and universities, international organizations, participates in national and international projects, scientific workshops, conferences.
Experts from the Institute are involved in the European Commission’s, the European Medicines Agency (EMA’s) and other expert working groups.
The Institute has signed cooperation agreements and working closely with the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health & Safety (ANSES) and the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) of Germany. It is also regularly changing experiences with the Finnish Food Safety Authority (EVIRA), the Latvian Institute of Food Safety, Animal Health and Environment, the Estonian Veterinary and Food Laboratory (VFL), the National Veterinary Research Institute of Poland (Pulawy) and others.
The Institute provides scientific advice, organizes international conferences, seminars, training courses not only for local, but also for foreign professionals, students, food industry etc.
